Pics of the Homestead!

Over the past few months, we have been hard at work re-doing our kitchen and adding some finishing touches around our home that we purchased almost a year ago. I wish that I had a picture that I could show you of our kitchen before we re-did it, but unfortunately, I do not. Try to picture in your mind honey-colored wood and the ugliest cream and red plaid wallpaper covering the wall. That was our kitchen! I am a complete green freak, so I wanted a great green color in the kitchen. I have always wanted white woodwork also-I think it is so clean looking and makes a space look larger. I really wish that I could show you this in person, because the pictures just don't do it justice!
Our finished kitchen! I love it!

One of our cabinets-it didn't have a door on it, so we just painted the back wall the same green as the rest of the kitchen. I love the bowls on the top shelf!
The vent hood was an ugly copper color-we painted it black to update it. The items hanging behind the range are from IKEA-one of my fav stores!

One of my favorite cabinets! It contains our glasses. We couldn't afford to put glass in the openings of the cabinets, so they are just open-it gives the same effect though. I don't know if you can tell, but I love the knobs we found! They perfectly match the green paint! We found them at Hobby Lobby on a half price sale!
One of my favorite areas in our house! I LOVE the pitcher and creamer and sugar set! It was a gift from the sister-in-law! Thank you! The green tray, I found at Hob Lob for $3.00! And...I made the recipe box!
love this! I hate the way a bottle of dish soap looks sitting out on the counter, and it's just not practical to have to dig through the cabinet everytime you need it. So, I found this great soap dispenser for the bathroom at Target for $9.99. It works perfectly for dish soap, and is a pretty finishing touch!
We had a really big empty wall in the kitchen that we just didn't know what to do with. We couldn't really afford to purchase a really large picture to fill up the space; plus, we hadn't found one that we were thrilled with. I was at Kohl's the other day and found these great shadowboxes! They came in a set of three for $20.00. The best thing of all-they were buy one, get one free! I went to Hob Lob with my mother, and found these great knick-knacks, and she was nice enough to offer to pay for them-so, I saved myself about $25.00! Thanks, Mom!
This sign was perfect for our house! And, for $4.99 at Hob Lob, I couldn't pass it up!

This is a shelf in our living room. The total cost of everything on here was probably around $15.00! Oh...and the green "&"-it is from Pottery Barn and it was clearanced to $3.82! What a bargain!

And finally....our coffee table! I made the boxes, and the white vase, I got at a store closing sale for $1.50. I also got the little bouquet of green flowers at that same sale for $2.00-they were so cute, I couldn't pass them up! The other items on the table were gifts!
Well, I hope you all have enjoyed this little tour of my home. As you can see, I love green, black, and white! The good thing about the way that we have decorated is that if I get tired of green, which I know that I will eventually will, it will be easy to change out the green for another color! Oh....and I forgot to mention....our kitchen re-model cost about $100.00!

I think I had the same "before" kitchen in my old house. What was it about wallpaper and honey oak cabinets?

I love what you've done in your kitchen. The colors are so fresh! I love those bowls on the top shelf too.

Have a great day!

Love your kitchen. I re-did our cabinets March 2008. It was a lot of hard work. So I know what you had to go through. I really still need a new counter and new flooring before we are finished.

I am stopping by to welcome you to SITS. I know your going to love our community.

Have a blessed day!

WOW!!! I need to spend more time with you. Your kitchen looks great and I can't believe you only spent $100. My problem is I have no sense of style, so if I spent $100 bucks it would totally look like it.
Welcome to SITS!!

This is so great!! I love green, black and white - so clean and crisp.

I'm a slave to Hobby Lobby myself. If you Google Hobby Lobby coupon, you can usually find a 40% off one item (regular) price - though sometimes it is difficult to locate something not on a great sale.

And I fell over when I saw their drawer pulls were so cheap as well. Your glass green ones are adorable - look like Restoration Hardware at a fraction of the price. I scored some black and white polks dot ones for my laundry room. Makes me happy just looking at them - which is a good trick in the laundry room.

Welcome to SiTS! Em
